Welcome to the BUILD Project!

10 October 2024 • A note from our project coordinators

About the Project

As our world changes, more elderly people face complex personal, social, and medical challenges. Ensuring that everyone in the European Union (EU) receives the care they need is a significant task. The gold standard for this is an integrated, long-term care model, but there’s still a lot to be done.

That’s where the BUILD Project comes in. Our goal is to create and promote a framework for integrated long-term care across the EU. We’re working with international, interdisciplinary partners to gather evidence and develop solutions.

We’re thrilled to have experts from medicine, economics, finance, care environments, social science, policy making, and data security on board. They’re helping us bridge gaps between different sectors and stakeholders.

Leading this incredible team is the task of the Institute for Healthcare Management and Health Sciences at the University of Bayreuth. The following partners are included:

  • Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG): Experts in economics, finance, and social inequalities.
  • Univerzita Karlova (CEL) and Karl Landsteiner Privatuniversität für Gesundheitswissenschaften (KL) along with Democracy X (DBT): They’re exploring care landscapes in Europe.
  • Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KUEI): Bringing extensive experience in care ecosystems.
  • Fundacion Avedis Donabedian para la mejora de la calidad asistencial (FAD): Ensuring the right political stakeholders are involved.
  • VICESSE Research:  Managing data and ensuring security.
  • LOBA: Helping us communicate our goals to the world.

We hope you join us along our journey to ensure that person-centred integrated care (PC-IC) becomes a household concept across Europe!
